The 2019 Ladbrokes Pro-Am Series is in full swing with Andrew Martin claiming the Symes BMW Axedale Pro-Am at Axedale Golf Club.
Firing 6-under 63, Martin was in top form on a sunny day in Victoria, with a light breeze and standout course conditions aiding his run to a total of eight birdies for the day.
With local knowledge working in his favour, Martin believed a home advantage helped him record the win.
“I’ve been playing the course ever since I was a kid. It probably gave me a three shot advantage over the rest of the guys,” said Martin.
Martin’s score, however, was not the best of the day with Kris Mueck, a pro but playing as an invited amateur, shooting an impressive 10-under 59 to set a new course record on the tight layout of Axedale Golf Course.
Ruben Lal finished in second place with 5-under 64, while another local favourite Lucas Herbert and Hayden Webb tied for third place on 3-under 66.
The Ladbrokes Pro-Am Series next visits Neangar Park Golf Club in Eaglehawk, Victoria for the Neangar Park Pro-Am by Evolution Copy Print Solutions on 11 January, 2019.
